After some extremely creative indoor programming from our staff during the last two days of rain, yesterday the campers jumped right back into outdoor activities.

The morning started with a little rain but that soon cleared up and it became a cool, beautiful, breezy day. The core value of the day was Community which was fitting as campers gathered in the communal yurt for morning meeting and were led in song by members of staff. The goal of the day is to incorporate the chosen core value into everyday activities and to be aware of the community in which they are in.

After breakfast the village played a game we call ULTIMATE TURBO KICKBALL, a game which is a unique take on kickball that teaches sportsmanship and teamwork. Instead of plates at each base campers run to and jump on mattresses that are covered in mud, flower, and glitter and on each base they must complete an activity to move on. Campers get muddy, messy and covered in glitter and from what I hear have THE BEST TIME.

To finish the activity all campers showered before heading to lunch.

After lunch they moved onto an Adventure Village classic that was forgotten, this activity that was brought to us many years ago from our Armenian Exchange Program and was revived this year by our Village Chief who played the game during her first year in AdVill. The game Popcorn King, were the rebels are trying to free the popcorn king from the celery queen. To do this campers must complete tasks and activities to collect tokens from the 1% rich population, with these token the kids trade for popcorn kernels and cooking equipment all without the evil queen finding out what it is they’re up to. After they collect all needed material the campers learn how to prep and cook popcorn on a camping stove. Then they take the combined popcorn to the popcorn king to build his power and take on the evil queen. The campers get lost in this world and their roles to work together and once again enjoy popcorn. An activity that even I bought into and had so much fun taking part in.IMG_0585 W (31) W (76) W (77)
After dinner campers got to hang out with other villages on camp and get some rest in preparation for their hikes which leave tomorrow (Sunday).

Again if you have any questions please do not hesitate to give us a call or email.
