Adventure junkies

The Frost Valley Action Sports Tour is rolling along as the boys take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way. Monday was spent skating, swimming, and chilling here at Frost Valley. During their skate session in the morning, everyone was showing their stuff and giving tips to each other. That is what I love about skateboarding — the open culture in which everyone has something to teach and success is celebrated no matter what level it is at. Armando and Kaare have been impressive as they flip and slide their way through the course.

Jack and Mark have been getting into the “documentation” aspect by taking pictures and filming almost as much as they have been skating.

There was also a chance for the zipline before dinner on Monday. It was just another walk in the park for these masters of Adventure and they all got 2 chances to zip. David gave us his best Superman impression on one run.

Tuesday morning was another chance to skate. Lunch in the dining hall was followed by an afternoon tubing the Esopus. The water was cool, the rapids were fun, and a great time was had by all. A few of the boys fell out, though no one spent as much time chasing their tube as Alex. It seemed like he was off of his tube as much as he was on it. Some pizza from Brio’s wrapped up the afternoon in Phonecia and the crew headed back up to the Valley for a relaxing evening filled by the remnants of the Perseid meteor shower and a campfire. The next few days will see the boys mountain boarding and sleeping out at Pete’s Pavilion, hitting up a local skatepark, and enjoying more of Frost Valley. Check back in a few days for more on these Adventure junkies and their exploits.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
