Durango had a very busy weekend! Saturday started off making tie die shirts, pillow cases, bandanas, whatever they could find that was white. They will now all be lovely and multi colored! They then played some water games with their sister village Mustang! It was great to see them mingling and getting on really well with everyone! After lunch it was time for something new at the barn. Durango rode bareback! This means they only had their reigns and had to work really hard to keep themselves balanced. They loved how they could feel every muscle moving underneath them. They even got a chance to try show grooming. They loved […]

After that we had some water games with our brother village Durango. We spent the whole morning down the barn doing these activities and everyone loved it. After lunch and a much needed rest hour it was time to head to the […]

The boys love boating! Every day they all seem to head over to the boat shed and head out onto the water. I’m sure they love swimming but boating is the trend this year! After waterfront Durango went out into the woods to try shelter building. They used all natural recourses to make a shelter. Using logs, twigs, branches and even moss, they came up with some good little hideouts! When they finished we tested them by pouring water on the top! They did so good! They really enjoyed their lessons and they are really gaining confidence around their horses. They lead them to and from the lessons and lead […]

Mustang girls are made of gold! The girls have had a very energetic couple of days! Thursday started out with water front and the girls loved playing in the sand and jumping off of the dock! Just after we played some hula hoop games. They spent time playing games like who can hula the longest and holding hands in a circle and passing the hoop around by stepping through the hoop and helping their team mates. Who knew you could have so much fun with some hula hoops. Our afternoon at the barn was awesome. Lessons are really starting to progress. The girls are really starting to enjoy everything. They […]

After lunch and rest hour it was time for the girls to head to the barn to meet the horses they would be riding for the next two weeks! So much anticipation from the girls but they were all so happy and really enjoyed their lesson! […]

Durango is back! We are so excited to have Durango back for another session this year! Our small villages of eight boys are all settled in their lodge and have already got to know each other really well. We spent the evening having a tour of our surrounding areas and writing down expectations! These are just some things that the boys come up with about respect in the cabin! Like treat people how you expect to be treated. It’s awesome to hear these great expectations coming from the boys. Our first evening program of session 4 was our opening campfire. The whole of Wawayanda gather on the hill that overlooks […]

Can you believe its session 4!? The summer has flown by and we are super excited for this last session of Mustang. We have a small group of 14 girls in Mustang this session, the smallest of the summer but they are oh so mighty young girls! It’s sad to think that this is the last first day of summer 2017. Check in day is always hectic with luggage and goodbyes. But then the fun starts. We spent the rest of Sunday unpacking and introducing ourselves. The one question we heard all day was, when can we ride a horse?! All the different characters of the girls are slowly surfacing […]
