From 2007 to 2016, Frost Valley has decreased electricity use by 23%.  How you might ask?  Well, it is all in the light bulb.  Starting in 2008, we replaced many of the lights on camp.  It started with the T-12 lights which are the large tube-shaped ceiling fluorescent light bulbs.  We replaced these with T-8 bulbs which are smaller in diameter and more efficient.  Throughout camp, we also switched all of your lamp- sized incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) which use about 75% less wattage than incandescent bulbs.  Then in 2014 we replaced exterior lights throughout camp with Light-Emitting Diode or LED lights. The 2017 maple sugaring season at Frost Valley has recently come to an end. This season was an interesting one. The sap flowed at a slow and intermittent pace, but the season endured for longer than usual. The season got off to an early start with sap collection beginning in mid February. We fired up the evaporator for our first boil on February 22nd and concluded with our last boil on April 5th. Happy Core Values Wednesday everyone!   This week, in honor of Earth Day, I am inviting all of you to take Action to put Responsibility to work! As people of this planet, we all have the responsibility to protect it. Yesterday, the Frost Valley staff participated in the Roadside Clean Up! We cleaned up the road from the furthest point on Frost Valley Rd all the way to East Valley Ranch. Over 16 miles of road!
