Session four has gotten off to a lovely start. Last night we welcomed everyone with opening campfire where campers and staff got to perform and sing songs. Day one was a success! It is hard to dislike Mondays when you are at Farm Camp. Today campers signed up for specialties. Specialties are skill-building courses that run on weekdays. Our creative staff members come up with programs that are a great mix of silly and educational. Campers take two specialties per day, four throughout their time here. Week two is going great. It is wild that it is already the last full day of camp. All the campers are engaged in great specialties: barn, garden, cooking, jedi training, blacksmithing, painting, hiking/outdoor living skills, and grossology. A few of this week’s activities have included meditating with goats, harvesting potatoes, making slime, making popsicles, weather reading, and leather stamping. Tonight we will celebrate the session with closing campfire where kids are welcome to perform and reflect on the last two weeks.   (Yurt 4 creating YMCA)

Weekends at Farm Camp are a time where we stray from our normal schedule and we do everything as a big community. It is a wonderful way to wrap up week one, relax, and regroup. It is so great to see all the friendships that have formed in just five days. Saturday is theme day and this session’s theme was A Very Viking Christmas! The story-line: a group of Vikings (farm campers) have come to the farm to settle and have decided to celebrate Christmas in the summer.
