Dance Parties and Dodgeball

Today Frost Valley experienced our first (mostly) rain-free day of the week, and the AdVill campers have taken full advantage of the sun! After a heavy rain late last night, the campers awoke to a valley of wispy mist and water-laden foliage, a quiet setting for what would be a rambunctious day.

In the morning, a group of campers hiked to High Falls to witness the effect of the recent rains on the spectacular waterfall that certainly lives up to it’s name. The cascade roared and sent vapor across the tumultuous pool to the faces of smiling campers.

A second group embarked on a hike up another creek, hiking along the forested banks in the underbrush. It might as well have been raining; the dew-covered flora kindly offered the campers the water that they had caught the night before.

In the late morning, the sun emerged from behind the clouds, and our campers began a friendly game of Dodgeball. After the campers had feasted on a hearty lunch, they grabbed the brooms and dustpans from the closets and began to clean the dining hall. Not wanting this to be a tedious and boring task, they soon began an impromptu Dance-Party that facilitated a thorough and efficient cleaning. Leaving an immaculate dining hall behind them, our campers then headed down to the waterfront.

At the waterfront, the AdVill campers relaxed and just hung out, while some got into kayaks and paddled away the afternoon. After a long morning, a rowdy afternoon, and a relaxing early evening, our campers turned in early for the night. Tomorrow they awake to another day in paradise!!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
