On Sunday we were so excited for everyone to arrive and for session one of EVR to begin! Everybody moved into their yurts, got to see old friends and make new ones too! There were happy faces all around! We had our opening campfire where we sang lots of campfire songs, and each yurt performed a skit to everybody else. Everybody got involved and the skits were so funny! We also had individual performances where the girls got to show off their own talents. We got to see gymnasts, singers, dancers, as well as ukulele and guitar players, which were all brilliant!! And could there be a campfire without s’mores?! To finish our opening campfire of course we made our own delicious s’mores!!

Monday morning the girls begun there first full day, and love it already! Today was our evaluation day, which everybody was excited about because that means riding horses! Today was a chance for the girls to get into the saddle again, or for the very first time and see what it is like! This gives Megs an idea of which horse each camper would be best suited to for the session. The girls got to meet all of our horses and also learnt about how we groom, tack, lead and tie our horses!

Yesterday afternoon we continued our evaluation day rotation activities so everybody had their chance to ride and learn about the horses and the barn! We also managed to get a chance to go creaking in the stream, where the girls created mini stone towers, used rocks to make rock face paint, and nets to try to find living animals in the stream! After the girls dried off, we worked as multiply teams and played One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish to try to collect an object without begin caught. We also found out that we had some creative fashion designers who designed toilet paper outfits for the counsellors – the girls created wonderful masterpieces and found it hilarious! Last night’s evening programme was Geronimo, which is a game where everybody has a seat except one. It’s a game of speed where everyone switches seats – the campers always love it and it is always one of the most talked about activities!!

EVR is already in full swing of our first session, and the girls were all very excited to find out their horse assignments for the session this morning! The girls all got to meet and ride their own horse this morning, and had a ground lesson (a time where they can learn about the horses, but from the ground). Their ground lesson was about different parts of the horse, which they then put into practice at the barn using the horses! The girls are already really enjoying learning lots and there are lots of other fun things to come!
