EVR 2 Week: Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

We can’t believe this is our last full day of sessions two already – we’re all been super busy this week!! This week is our second week of riding, which means TRAIL RIDES!!!! Now that the girls have learnt how to control their horses and they have been able to get to know their horses really well, they get to take them out of the arena on a trail ride! Each riding group got the chance to take their horse through the stream and into the beautiful forest for a whole lesson period!!

During their ground lessons this week they have had a chance to have a go at round pen, which is a technique we use to bond with the horses, gain their trust and join up – which they all loved!!! They have also been able to lean about different parts of the tack, and have played Horse Jeopardy with all of their new knowledge they’ve learnt over the passed two weeks!

During times when the girls aren’t riding we have been super busy!! We had adventure hike Monday, where the girls really enjoyed going up into the mountain and playing games. On Tuesday we had TIE DYE TUESDAY, and who doesn’t love tie dye?! It was so much fun and everyone created such cool designs on their shirts, socks, pillowcases and so much more! We have also been busy making candles and using our creative minds to design our dream barn in arts & crafts, as well as other fun sports and games!

Yesterday the girls had a super active day and we gave them a chance to choose which water activity they would like to choose to cool off in! The girls got to choose between going to waterfront and swimming in the stream, creaking in the stream or boating!!

Last night our evening program was the four-week drill team and staff demo!! It was so exciting for all of the two-week girls to see what the four-weekers had been up to! They all had worked so hard and everyone loved watching it – I think everyone wants to become a four-weeker now!! After this the staff rode horses that are used for the girls in lessons where we played a game called transitions. The is when somebody stands in the middle of the arena and shouts different things for the riders to do, e.g walk, trot, canter, circle, reverse. The last horse to complete the transition was out. All of the girls were cheering on their favourite horses! We also got to see staff doing barrel racing and everyone got to see how speedy our horses really can be!!

This evening we are having our closing campfire, where the girls will get to share the goals they set themselves and to see if they’ve achieved it, or more!! We will also get to sing some songs and share our memories of the amazing session we have had!!
