4th of July on the 6th?!

Frost Valley Summer Camp is just about the only place where you can ask the question “When is the 4th of July?” and no one laughs out loud at the silliness of the question. The actual 4th of July passed like any other Sunday here at camp because our 4th happens on the 6th. Today is one of our more relaxed days. Sunday is a time where the Hird sleeps in until about 9am, then meets at our outdoor chapel for morning reflection. Reflection is run by our CiT’s and this sessions theme was New Beginnings. Many campers shared their talents including songs, mandolin playing and reflective thoughts/inspiring quotes.

The Hird then ate brunch, and moved on about their day. Most villages spent their day playing and relaxing in our large shady fields. Enjoying the warm summer day. PAC and Windsong enjoyed a BBQ in Big Tree Field for dinner!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Morgan Theze

Born in New York but raised in Ireland, Morgan has spent every summer he can remember flying back to the US to attend summer camps. Over the years that Morgan worked at a well-regarded private camp in Maine, he took on many roles including Cabin Counselor, Head of Rocks and Ropes, Program Director, and Operations Director. Morgan began working at Frost Valley as a program instructor in 2014, leading activities for our schools and weekend programs, before becoming our Director of Camp Henry Hird. Campers at Camp Henry Hird range in age from 13 to 16. Morgan loves working with this age group as he finds that this is the time of their life where they form into unique individuals and discover the values that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.
