East Valley Ranch SESSION TWO!!!!
It all begins again…. 🙂
We had 17 excited girls arrive on Sunday plus 2 W.I.T’s (Wranglers In Training). We started with some ‘getting you know you/names’ games and then headed for our games room where it was nice & cool for a ping-pong tournament and some fuze ball.
After some handmade burgers, with all the fixin’s for dinner, we headed to the EVR secret campfire site for our opening campfire. All the girls shared what they would like to learn and what their biggest challenge is for this session. We discussed a typical day and enjoyed some roasted marshmallows over the fire.
The girls hung out and got to know each other more in their yurts before bed.Then it was lights out for some rest for the next day!
This morning we woke up to a sunny day in time for flag raising, where everyone shared what they were thankful for before a round of ‘ride ride ride that pony’ around the flag pole – our morning tradition as we raise the flag.
The girls then learned the basics down the barn – barn rules, barn tour, leading & tying, introduction to the horses, grooming and tacking. Following that, half of the girls did their evaluation ride while the others practiced their grooming/tacking. We unfortunately got cut short this morning by a storm that blew into camp but we’ll pick up where we left off and have the other half of the girls ride as soon as the heavy rain gives up 🙂
A GREAT start to the new session and some GREAT campers!!!
