High Elements to the X

The day started off up in the trees! There were lots of opportunities this morning for campers to challenge themselves on the high elements. Adventure Village campers were able to choose from the Leap of Faith, Giant Swing, and climbing the “Y” Tower. For those campers who were element-ed out, many kids in the village did screaming poetry and nature art!!

This afternoon the village embarked up to there secret location, known as Project X. Camper led construction has been going on up in the mystery village all summer long. Rumors have been spreading around camp as to what is up there, but only Adventure Village is in on the secret. I have heard that shelters and walkways were been constructed today.

There was also plenty of time to cook pizzas over the fire and roast s’mores before returning back to main camp.

Tomorrow is the big hiking day and I can’t wait to hear where the group wants to go… Great job at Project X everyone!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director.
