3 canoes on lake cole

High spirits

Yesterday brought the group to the Delaware Water Gap where they practiced some canoe strokes and learned about mid-water rescues. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided that we had had enough canoeing before we even set out down the river. Thunderstorms kept us under shelter until late in the afternoon. We decided to call it quits and head back to the Valley. Despite the weather, all of the kids were in great spirits and looked at the bright side of the situation. With the threat of more storms looming today, the group stayed at camp and took advantage of the new climbing tower.

Tri-climb

After lunch in the dining hall, they headed down to waterfront for some canoeing. There were Pirate Games and races galore and by dinner time, they were all ready for a shower and some down time.

Canoe shot

Thank you for allowing your kids to join us for this week. We’ll be posting a link to all of the pictures from their trip once we get them all uploaded. Please don’t hesitate to call with any questions. We’ll see you in the morning!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
