Keeping Cool On The Trails At EVR!

It has been nothing but HOT, HOT, HOT, here at EVR for the first few days of session two. Keeping cool has been our main priority! Not only do we make sure water bottles are always full, sunscreen is applied and reapplied but we also have to keep the horses cool too! After each long day in the arena, the girls help us give the horses a nice cold hose down to cool them off and as a way of saying thanks for being so good in the arena when it is this hot! The girls and the ponies love it.

Today is set to be the hottest day of the week, so what better to do then hit our beautiful, cool, tree covered trails! We have trails that can keep us busy for HOURS at a time! We plan on spending our whole day out on the trails, keeping cool but still working on our riding skills! We also have WATERFRONT this morning, so the girls can take a dip in the chilly Neversink River before heading out on horseback for the rest of the day.

Last night’s evening program was Challenge Night, where the counselors set each yurt a number of challenges to complete such as; weirdest talents, smelliest shoes, best singers and much, much more!

Our four week girls have been REALLY hard at work preparing for their drill team. Not only do they get their regular arena lesson in the morning, but they also come back to the barn after dinner to practice, practice, practice before the performance next week.

See smugmug.com for the latest pictures of the girls! WE LOVE EVR!!!! <3
