What a happy day! All of our mini-trips have returned to Frost Valley safe and sound.  Everyone on the trips, counselors included, had tons and tons of fun, but are all very tired!

Our bikers had a blast in Minnewaska and Mohonk preserve!  The campers were up for a new challenge each day and definitely looked forward to taking breaks by the lake for a quick swim.  They also got a great taste of community while tent-camping and cooking meals outside together.

Our backpackers got to see some awesome Catskill views! Even though they didn’t necessarily enjoy climbing to the top in the summer heat, the view and experience was well worth it.

Our “canoers” got to see some beautiful parts of the Delaware Water Gap!  They worked hard paddling each day and also took plenty of time to relax by the water.  They got to see and learn about a whole new wildlife habitat that they may not see in Adventure Village.

Of course, another highlight of the mini-trips is eating dinner out the last night!  It may sound like a such a simple thing, but after camping out in a tent, and cooking over a backpacking stove, and drinking iodine water, there is nothing better than a meal cooked for you at a restaurant!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
