Session 3 @ EVR takes off galloping :)
Another session rolls in & another group of AWESOME campers arrive! After check in yesterday we played some ‘get to know you’ games and went over expectations at camp. By the time everyone had finally arrived, bus campers & all it was time to wash up & eat dinner! We enjoyed some handmade burgers with all the fixin’s! We eat GOOOOD at EVR 🙂
Following dinner was yurt/shower time, for some hang out and shower time. At 7.30pm we had session 3’s opening campfire, at the ‘secret campfire ring’, where all the girls shared songs and various talents! We sang lots of camp songs and cheers and then discussed what challenges everyone saw for themselves this session and what they would like to achieve both in their riding, horse knowledge and self.
This morning the girls met at flag raising at 7.50am and we each said what we are thankful for before a special EVR camp cheer to wake us up 🙂 Breakfast was french toast and the girls were all on the edges of their seats to head to the barn.
At the barn everyone got a tour, barn rules, horse intros and perfected their leading & tying skills before they could handle the horses. We then did our evaluation rides which was divided by yurts – yurt 1 (the older girls) were first to ride while yurt 5 went over grooming and tacking. EVR is a very ‘hands on’ experience so each girl is expected to take responsibility of grooming and tacking their own horse before they ride.
We then flip flopped and after a meatball & pasta lunch yurt 5 rode, while yurt 1 worked on their grooming and tacking skills. After riding the girls each turned out a horse to the field before stable management which consists of cleaning and setting up the barn for the following day!
Before dinner there was a huge game of GaGa in the GaGa Pitt – of course – always a favorite! Dinner was a chicken dish with noodles and banana cake for desert 🙂
The girls are now having yurt/shower time before evening program tonight!
Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day of riding for all, once we have assigned everyone to a lesson and horse 🙂
