Heat Wave Hits the Valley

Advill campers and staff woke up to a hot day! It was so hot that we had two mandatory rest hours.  After breakfast the village broke up into four groups.  Session two had it’s first meeting of the council, a beloved Advill tradition.  Others tested their courage on our zipline. Some improved their interpersonal skills while participating in our low ropes challenge course.  Other campers expressed their creative side with a little natural art. Second period camps had the option of  climbing our climbing tower, going to our giant’s swing, mt. boarding, or playing in the creek.

Just before lunch campers had their first mandatory rest hour.  As the afternoon rolled into gear and the heat went up campers and staff went to Lake Cole. Other campers went creekin in Biscuit creek. All in all it was a great day for Advill and we’re looking forward to another tormorrow!!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
