AdVill started this Independence Day off with a delicious pancake breakfast, filling their bellies before a big day of fun and Adventure! The first activity on the agenda was a game of Jeronimo with Al Fileris, a Frost Valley alumni and board member. Al teaches a great deal about the values and traditions of Frost Valley by simply sharing his passion and enthusiasm with our campers. Think of Jeronimo as a game of Musical Chairs, with creative questions instead of music.
After a rambunctious game of Jeronimo, campers chose to go on a hike, play Candy Land, or relax. Everyone re-convened for a delicious lunch before joining MAC (Mainestreaming at camp) boys in MACadellic theme day activities. Our MAC program welcomes campers with developmental disabilities into the greater camp community. The MAC program provides us with a fantastic opportunity to explore the core values of Inclusiveness, Respect and Diversity. Campers brewed some delicious tea from wild edibles foraged from the forest and played games with their new MAC friends. Campers had so much fun with their new friends; many of them exchanged information to stay in touch after summer camp!
After a well-earned dinner, campers engaged in yet another fantastic Frost Valley tradition- Ultimate Sicko Ball (USB) with the rest of camp. USB is like a giant game of capture the flag with balls instead of flags. It requires a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, a challenge our AdVillers met with fury. After a long, eventful day of fun, AdVillers retired to the village for a devotion with their tent mates and counselors. Campers and counselors admired the beautiful star-lit sky before sinking into a deep sleep in preparation for another fun-filled day tomorrow.
Happy 4th of July everyone!
