in Niagara Falls? That’s what the Ontario Outback trip thought. After a long drive across New York State on Monday, they checked in at the St. Catharines Walker Family YMCA near Niagara Falls. After dropping their things off, they went to check out the town and the falls including a visit after dark to see the 173′ falls lit up. Then it was back to the Y for some basketball before hitting the sack. They were up early again on Tuesday to get a jump on the drive. After passing many a Tim Horton’s, they arrived at George Lake Campground in Killarney Provincial Park. Tuesday and tonight they will be in George Lake campground doing their final preparations including some practice in the boats before heading out on Wednesday morning to begin their 5-night/6-day route through the park which will include the most famous portage in a park known for its clear blue water and long portages. It is affectionately called “the Pig” by those who frequent this jewel of the Ontario Provincial Park system and will be the final big challenge for the group. Check back in a few days for an update from Three-Narrows Lake!
