Day one of work complete!  Using some hand saws to clear trees and open up a few scenic vista points along the carriage roads was on the schedule.  The national park service is amazing to work with, and the group really appreciated learning from one of the park service arborists throughout the day.  Some awesome teamwork was seen as campers paired up and took turns cutting the trees and then hauling them up to a brush pile.  Everyone kept chatting about how cool it was that the Frost Valley “marshmallow” buses were allowed to drive on the carriage roads in order to complete their work quicker!

Yesterday’s work day was canceled due to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the area.  The group made the best of it and decided to sleep in a little later (they were exhausted from day one of work!), played a mad crazy game of soccer in the rain at the campground when it wasn’t thundering, and then walked the main street of Bar Harbor in the afternoon.  A snack of ice-cream at the end of the day as the sun was just starting to peep back out was a perfect way to wrap up the day.
