Midweek Scheduling with Summer Camp Leadership
We like to make sure our activities and programs reflect the needs of our current population of campers. It would be possible for us to make schedules ahead of time, filling in the blanks day by day to ensure a varied and exciting camp experience. Yet to do this would take away something valuable; the personalities of individuals, such as the camper who insists his cabin goes on a hike to High Falls this session, or ask that their overnight be near to the sound of water. This is the success of one of our strongest traditions; Leadership meeting, where our Directors, Village Chiefs and Coordinators meet to plan the week ahead.
With a list of activities desired by each cabin, each Village Chief goes into the meeting prepared to request resources, sign out program areas, and cooperate with their peers to provide quality programs for all campers. As you can see with Sacky Village below, a lot of pride goes into each village schedule, with innovative new creations and old favourites on every single one.
It takes time, logic and effort, but the end result is a bespoke camping experience that is unique and engaging session to session. As a result we are now excited for the week ahead, and especially Olympix, 2 days of culture sharing, sportsmanship and competitive enthusiasm. We get the stories (starting tomorrow!), and will share them as they come!
