Frost Valley Celebrates Black History Month with Tribute to Scientist Charles Henry Turner

In celebration of Black History Month, we’re taking time at Frost Valley to celebrate some of the Black scientists who have changed the course of environmental science. As we move through the month—enjoying recent snowfalls, working on new projects in our program village, and clipping into cross country skis—we want to understand how the work of these Black scientists affects our everyday lives. We think about George Washington Carver and his work in sustainable agriculture as we drive past fertile farmland; we think about Marie Maynard Daly and her work in nutrition science with each bite of food we take; and we think about Mae C. Adventure is Building Bridges and Crossing Them Too!

Session 2 is getting rolling and we are thrilled to have campers settling in at Adventure Village. Everyone is making plenty of new friends and connections, building bridges if you will.  While we are having a wet start to the session, Adventure Village has been running some great creative programs. We are also taking full advantage of the breaks in the rain to get outside and do activities like crossing the cable bridge and building fairy houses. Check back soon for more photos and updates. Mustang Session 1 – Thursday, July 1st

  We are officially four days into our first session of Mustang! It has been a really exciting week. On Monday, we played get to know you games to get to know our village mates and counselors better. We also took our swim tests, and got to enjoy the flying squirrel! In the afternoons we head to our riding lessons. Monday was all about meeting the horses and learning about the ins and outs of the barn. We did a little bit of riding for evaluation day, then headed to dinner. After dinner, we got to go boating! Adventure Village kicks off session one!

July 1, 2021

Session one and summer 2021 have kicked off with a bang in adventure village! It has been so exciting hearing all the kids return to the valley after a quiet summer last year. They have settled into their tents and are doing their best to stay hydrated and stay cool in the warm weather.  Campers have been enjoying our ropes elements like the zipline and had a great time on day hikes yesterday. We are busy making new friends and looking forward to leaving for trail this weekend. Make sure to check back in soon for more photos and updates.  Happy trails, Anna
