Paint & Pete’s

As campers awoke this morning, they were greeted with a chilly but sunny day!  Sweatshirts were the order of the morning and they were taken off, put back on, taken off, and put back on all day long…  It was a nice relief from the hot days we had earlier in the week.

Most of the campers took off to the pond where they hunted for all sorts of creatures including frogs and tadpoles.  Take a look at the SmugMug pictures to see all the different animals that were found.  A team of campers did service work around Sequoia; they helped maintain and build trails.  Great job!

Many of the campers moved on from the pond to the creek and continued to explore all the underwater wildlife.  Others found there way to the zip line or tie dyeing.  I can’t wait to see how the tie dye shirts look when they are dry.

This afternoon was an Adventure Village favorite of “tie dyeing” the counselors.  I can’t think of a camper out there who doesn’t like to grab some paint and show off there skills on their favorite counselor!  The showers defiantly got some good use this afternoon and were filled with all sorts of colors.

Everyone is up at Pete’s pavilion tonight camping out.  It has an amazing view of the Catskills, like nothing I have ever seen before.  The sunset tonight was gorgeous.  I have heard rumor that people are even going to get up for sunrise tomorrow morning.  The sun rises at 5:25am!

When I left Pete’s to head back to the office, everyone was enjoying banana boats and mountain boarding.  A perfect combination before settling down to watch the shooting stars.

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
