The Picnic and Dance!

Saturdays are always a fun day in the Hird because it means we have Hird Picnic! Hird Picnic is a great opportunity for campers and staff to perform for the whole camp. We gathered at Hirdstock field overlooking the lake at lunch time. Everyone made their own sandwiches (there were tons of options like turkey, ham, salami, and a few different types of cheeses) along with lemonade, pasta salad, and cookies! After everyone had eaten we gathered around the stage and watched performances that ranged from singing to dancing to challenges. You couldn’t ask for a more picturesque scene.

The other exciting part about Saturdays is the dance! The theme for the dance this session is Yuleball and was chosen by Windsong village. Everyone is at the dining hall as I type this dancing in their snowiest clothing and getting in the holiday spirit. The picture below is 3 Lenape campers who all coordinated their outfits for the dance and wore them to dinner.

Morgan Theze

Born in New York but raised in Ireland, Morgan has spent every summer he can remember flying back to the US to attend summer camps. Over the years that Morgan worked at a well-regarded private camp in Maine, he took on many roles including Cabin Counselor, Head of Rocks and Ropes, Program Director, and Operations Director. Morgan began working at Frost Valley as a program instructor in 2014, leading activities for our schools and weekend programs, before becoming our Director of Camp Henry Hird. Campers at Camp Henry Hird range in age from 13 to 16. Morgan loves working with this age group as he finds that this is the time of their life where they form into unique individuals and discover the values that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.
