AdVill says goodnight, but not good-bye

These past few days have been very eventful for our Village. Everyone returned safely back to Frost Valley from mini-trips on Wednesday. And everyone, staff and campers alike were very excited to reunite with the rest of the village and exchange hugs and stories.

After some time to rest, shower and settle back into their platform tents, AdVill got dressed and prepared for a traditional game of French Revolution. French Rev is a twist off of hide and seek played in the woods, where everyone participating dresses all in black or camo and paints their faces, some even create “capes” and hats made of ferns to blend in more.

This morning was a pretty relaxed morning where campers got to practice their archery skills, make dream catchers, or make rock face paint one last time. This afternoon everyone was pleasantly surprised with an ice cream party in Sequoia! It was a wonderful way to bring everyone together to share memories from throughout the session.

For our last night together Adventure Village participated in their own closing ceremony. This session’s closing ceremony was a pleasant mix of old traditions and some new songs, performances and stories as well. We are wishing everyone safe travels home and we hope to see everyone back next summer!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
