All Adventure Village Trips Returned
Throughout the day AdVill trips rolled back onto the camp property. The on-camp hiking trip hiked all the way to Marrell Pavilion in the other valley and returned first to camp this morning. Through the rest of the day the other groups returned. Each group had amazing stories of their adventures. The rock climbers had 3 solid days on the rock with only 15 min of a quick shower. The Catskills Backpackers climbed Overlook Fire Tower and explored the ruins of the old Catskills Mountain House on their hike along the Escarpment Trail. The youngest backpackers saw the sunset and rise over the whole Catskills at at Marrell Pavilion. Both Adirondack Backpacking and Canoeing trips had an outstanding time summiting the glorious High Peaks and paddling the beautiful Saranac Lake Wild Forest Area. According the Frost Valley legend, Bud Cox, this region is the best canoeing in the country. It is beautiful.
Pictures will be posted tomorrow.
Teen Adventure Trips are going swimmingly. Vermont Voyageur is meshing as a group. White Mountains hit their hardest rapids today before gearing down for their ride home. Habitat spent their last day at the work site. And the West Virginia packing their things and getting a long rest for the equally long ride home!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
