It has been a great few days at farm camp. We wrapped up our specialties on Friday and dove into an exciting weekend. Saturday: Theme day. The theme: THE GREATEST SHOWMAN. Campers did an array of different activities including a popcorn making contest, pie throwing, animal expo, caramel apple making, face paint, and costume making. The day wrapped up with a movie night… we watched The Greatest Showman, if you couldn’t guess. Sunday: Harvest Day. We got a late start and began our day with brunch. Wednesday has been wonderful. We lucked out with perfect weather. Everyone is currently on their overnight. They hiked up to a few different locations and are camping under the stars. Some of today’s earlier activities: Four Leaf Clover Hunting 80s Zumba Dancing Mathematics Exploration Soccer Pond Ecology We skipped waterfront and packed instead. Once everyone arrived at their overnight locations, they built fires and cooked around them. The menu: pita pizzas and s’mores! No Monday blues here. Last night we celebrated the beginning of camp with a campfire. People performed skits and songs! Someone even brought their dresser out of their yurt and used it as a drum set! The first full day is officially underway. Campers spend today signing up for their weekly activities and learning how the flow of the day works. They will participate in four specialties while they are here, two per week. Specialties last 4/5 days and focus on one topic or skill. Can’t believe there are only three days left! The last few days have been packed full of activities. We wrapped up our specialties on Friday and signed up for new ones yesterday. Over the weekend we had theme day and harvest day. Saturday was theme day, which means the whole day had events and activities based around a specific theme. This session the theme was: Richard Simmons/ Healthy Living/ 80’s Fitness. We danced, made fresh smoothies, did yoga, made tie-dye, and much more! HAPPY MONDAY! There is nothing to dread about Mondays when you get to spend them at Farm Camp. Today is spent teaching everyone how life at the farm works and signing up for their week 1 specialties. Specialties happen twice a day and are an activity that campers do for a whole week, progressing and learning. The final week! We can’t believe it is already Monday. This session has flown by. We had a great weekend at Farm Camp. Saturday: 80s detective day! Everyone at Farm Camp was attending the Police Academy and someone discovered that there was a criminal in the group. They spent the day working through clues and trying to uncover the criminal. Fake mustaches were made out of wool, old school cell phones were built, and lots of suspects were questioned. The culprit ended up being the Chief of Police!!! Where has the time gone? There is only one week of camp left! Over the last two days we have wrapped up our specialties and prepared for the weekend. Some of the activities have included: Meditation Goat Snuggling Cable Bridge Hike Clothing Customization Castle Building Berry Picking Soccer Garlic Cleaning & Peeling This morning our lovely FiTs returned from their five day hike. What a wonderful Wednesday! Today we had perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cloudy, not too windy. Some of today’s activities: Cable bridge hangout: walking across the cable bridge, bonding, talking about the environment. Soccer: or football… depending on which staff member you ask!
