Frost Valley YMCA offers different adventure trip tracks designed to inspire outdoor growth and discovery. Trail Starters (TS) introduces foundational skills focused on Discovery, while Outdoor Leadership (OL) builds Character with the motto “Find your voice and the leader within.” The AT Collective (AT) fosters Resilience as every trip treks sections of the iconic Appalachian Trail under the banner “A legacy written in miles.” Wayfinder Expeditions (WE) sparks Wonder with “Adventure across every terrain,” creating a complete pathway for campers to explore, lead, and grow.
Adirondack Hike & Climb

This high-adventure trip blends the best of the Adirondack backcountry: rugged hikes and world-class rock climbing. Campers will backpack through pristine wilderness regions such as the High Peaks or Pharaoh Lake, averaging 5–7 miles per day with scenic campsites and trail challenges that build endurance and grit. The second phase partners with Rock and River, where campers spend two full days climbing with certified AMGA guides and build confidence on the cliffs.
A final backpacking loop helps bring the group full circle—with stronger legs, sharper skills, and a stronger sense of self.
Adirondack River & Ridge

Appalachian Trail: River & Ridge

Canadian Explorer

This unforgettable 13-day expedition takes campers through the stunning 1,000 Islands region of the St. Lawrence River and into Canada’s wilderness for a multi-phase journey filled with paddling, rafting, and hiking. Beginning with a 3-day canoe expedition among the countless inlets and island campsites of the New York side of the river, campers will learn essential canoeing and navigation skills while building resilience and camaraderie.
Mid-trip, the group heads across the border for a whitewater rafting day on the Ottawa River, led by professional outfitters. After the rapids, the journey continues on foot with two days of hiking and camping in the Canadian wilderness, exploring rocky ridgelines, peaceful forests, and scenic trails in the Frontenac Arch region.
Each portion of the trip brings a new sense of challenge and growth, and by the end, campers leave with stronger outdoor skills, deeper friendships, and a renewed connection to themselves and the natural world.

Horse Trails

Horse Trails is a one-week equestrian adventure for experienced riders entering grades 8 and up. This unique program offers full-day horseback treks through the scenic backcountry of the Catskills, featuring an all-new trail route that maximizes time in the saddle. Along the way, campers gain hands-on experience in outdoor living and horse care, taking full responsibility for grooming, tacking, feeding, and bonding with their trail partner.
Campers will camp out at remote sites, cook their own meals, and learn wilderness survival and navigation skills between rides. This is a physically and emotionally rewarding experience for teens who love horses, are confident riders (walk/trot minimum), and are ready to explore the outdoors in a new and meaningful way.
This trip is best suited for campers with prior riding experience, especially those who have participated in Frost Valley’s equestrian programs.
Maine Coast
