NOTE: Unless mandated by the Department of Health, Frost Valley WILL NOT be requiring campers to be vaccinated for COVID-19 for Summer 2023, but we are STRONGLY RECOMMENDING parents get their children vaccinated. We will be working with the New York State Department of Health, CDC, and American Camp Association to stay updated on guidelines.

LONG TRAIL THRU-HIKER (Grades 9-12)

(MONTH-LONG ADVANCED LEVEL)

Join us for Frost Valley’s month-long expedition of Vermont’s famous Long Trail. Led by their two trip leaders, six campers will embark on this month-long expedition of the oldest continuous footpath in the US. Campers will challenge themselves while building and developing their backcountry leadership skills along this 272-mile thru-hike. Hiking between 10 and 13 miles a day, campers will earn their trail legs while leading their peers. They will experience approximately 63,500 ft of elevation gain and loss from summiting many of Vermont’s highest peaks and experiencing some of the state’s stunning vistas. After 22 on-trail days, participants will be a part of the end-to-enders club of thru-hikers.

This is the most advanced trip in the leadership progression. Campers should have previous extended backpacking experience and should be comfortable in the backcountry before embarking on this trip.
