Camp Activities
The schedule content will vary based on what village your camper is in. Every camper enjoys an overnight camping experience on the trail. Cabin cleanup is complete before campers begin daily activities.

Campers pick what they want to do. Options include hikes, crafts, games, sports, and more! - Waterfront – 10:40 am
Our staff lead this recreational program, under the supervision of certified lifeguards. We offer canoeing, rowing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and a ton of water sports! - Lunch & Rest Hour
11:50 am for Wawayanda
12:50 pm for Hird - Creative Program – 2:00 pm
Each village community gathers for this group activity. These games will use the camper’s imagination and teamwork skills – things get very goofy! - Specialties – 3:10 pm
Skill-building sessions taught by experienced instructors. Campers choose two 4-day long specialties. Choices may include sports, theatre, music, cooking, gardening, nature, arts, high ropes, adventure courses, and hiking. - Dinner

THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO AT FROST VALLEY!
A well-balanced daily schedule offers a wide range of activities. From traditional camp activities like sports & games, arts and crafts, and rock climbing, to wacky and unique Frost Valley favorites, there is something for everyone. Campers in Wawayanda and Henry Hird will enjoy a daily schedule made up of four periods consisting of Waterfront, Choice Period, Specialty, and Creative Program.
Waterfront:
Campers get the chance to swim and/or boat in Lake Cole every day. Campers can play on the beach, play basketball or volleyball in the water, jump on the floating trampoline, or slide down our giant inflatable waterslide. Specially trained waterfront staff offer optional swim lessons for those looking to improve their technique. Boating options include kayaking, canoeing, row boating, and stand-up paddleboarding.
Sports & Games:
Our culture is to simply enjoy physical activity through friendly competition, mash-up of different sports, and teamwork.
Choice Period:
Campers will get to choose the activity they would like to do for this period each day! This will include classic activities, like soccer, basketball, crafts, and hikes. Choice Period will also include small group activities like climbing, high ropes, and archery.
Specialty:
This elective-style period is for each camper to choose from a wide range of specialized activities. Campers will stick with that activity for one week. The main goal is to help campers confidently step out of their comfort zones, try something new, and walk away with a new skill or passion. We hire experienced and specialized staff to lead these activities. Examples of these include:
- Arts and Crafts: pottery, screen printing, and woodworking
- Wellness: healthy cooking, gardening, outdoor living skills, archery, soccer, basketball, and other team sports
- Creative Play: theater, dance, yoga, music, creative writing
- Ropes: rock climbing, zipline, team building, low and high ropes course, and other adventure-based activities.
Creative Program:
The creative program is a village-wide, unique, camp game. Campers will bond with their village group as they participate in team-building activities, imagination-based games, and programs that allow campers to act goofy and enjoy camp magic.
1ST SESSION
Small World Fair / 4th of July
The Fourth of July begins, like all other days, with a flag-raising ceremony. But for our Independence Day celebration, the entire camp joins together around the flagpole to sing a rousing Happy Birthday to America. It’s a powerful rendition and pride echoes across the valley. During the day, we host a carnival to celebrate our great country. Later, as many of our summer staff is international, we invite them to participate in a Small World Fair where all cultures share their history and traditions. The day culminates with an evening of fireworks over Lake Cole.
2ND SESSION
The Olympix
Every summer, the Olympix spirit sweeps through the camp when Frost Valley YMCA hosts our annual Olympix championship. Competing countries, varying from year to year—Australia, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, Serbia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, and Wales—are represented by groups of campers. The opening ceremony commences the night before with dances, skits, and songs representing the cultural traditions of each country. Team unity and pride are on full display, but it’s the spirit of Frost Valley that rises strong, pure, and heartening. Let the games begin!
3RD SESSION
CarniValley
CarniValley is our new Session 3 all-camp activity, the greatest carnival to ever take place at Frost Valley! Frost Valley is rich with tradition and we are starting a new one. At CarniValley, records will be set that will go down in camp history. The competition is always friendly and a wide range of carnival games will be enjoyed by all. Something for everyone! This lively day will wrap up with a lip-sync battle to remember. Each village will spend the week preparing to compete for awards such as “Best Air Guitar” or “Most Enthusiastic”. This red carpet, Core-Values-sponsored event, will be covered by Frost Valley TV. Lights! Camera! Action!
4TH SESSION
Hirdstock
Hirdstock, a camp-wide music festival that rivals the original Woodstock, takes place during the fourth session. Campers participate in arts and crafts, games, an air guitar competition, and other activities on Hirdstock Field. But, the main attraction is always the music. Performances by campers, counselors, and other professional bands draw the positive vibes of all present and the spirit of Frost Valley is palpable as the music soars to the mountaintops.
