Today is the last day of the two day all camp specialty, The Olympix! The Olympix is always the highlight of Session 2 and today the event will reach its peak when we celebrate all the countries and cultures represented in our closing ceremony tonight. This morning the teams all met on Filreis field to frame the day and they donned their freshly designed t shirts and shortly afterwards headed to the first activity of the day. Wawayanda campers don’t let heatwaves interrupt their fun! Over the next couple of days we are expecting some warm weather here in the Catskills and so our mission is to remain cool and hydrated as much as possible. Yesterday at hangout we had some fun splashing around with hoses and paddling pools and waterfront was busier than ever with most taking the opportunity to chill out in Lake Cole. As well as regular water breaks throughout programming we encourage campers to drink as much as possible at their meal times, with one Forest Cabin managing 7 whole pitchers at dinner alone last night! Howdy Everyone! It has been a busy but great few days for Mustango (our joint name for Mustang and Durango villages). After check in on Sunday, once all the campers had settled into their lodges, they had Pizza for dinner and then attended OPENING CAMPFIRE!! The staff from each village did a skit or a song to introduce themselves to the kids and they sang songs like ‘We’re going on a lion hunt’. They also helped in the annual tradition of putting a spoonful of ashes from previous opening campfires into the fire and then refilling the pot with a scoop from this sessions campfire, to bring the spirit of […]
