Monday consisted of quite a bit of refresher for our campers.  They revisited lessons on fire building, water purification, traps and snares, hiking, river crossing, and shelter building.  Tuesday, we got rained out of our “Mountain Day”, but that time was spent focusing on Map and Compass reading.  They will be planning their trip for next week.  That means figuring out food, routes, time, camping spots, pace, entrance and exits points for their multi-night survival experience.  They are confident, educated, and ready to get at it.   Great group of young people.

The shelter building overnight was a success.  Campers had a wild edible dinner.  They are all working well together.  Today was our “Mountain Day”.  They did some climbing, rappelling, hiking, and a traverse across a decent drop.  They supported each other and had fun while learning new things.  Tonight brought a little rain, but it was awesome to see how well they scrambled together to set up an emergency tarp to salvage our cooking fire.  Of course, as soon we we got our castle built, the rain stopped.  It was a structure to be proud of.
