Frost Valley YMCA Announces Upcoming Specialty Day Camps

Just because school is out doesn’t mean children have to experience summer learning loss. Summer is the perfect time to nurture children’s natural curiosity and encourage them to explore new interests. Frost Valley YMCA offers several upcoming specialty day camps including: Happy Hikers, Sports of All Sorts, Mountain Toppers, Sports Sampler, Saddle Up, Maker’s Lab, and Farm Camp.

Happy Hikers Day Camp offers children entering grades 1-3 the opportunity to hike several Frost Valley trails, observe natural ecosystems, and follow a map. Mountain Toppers Day Camp, for children entering grades 4-5, will bring campers on some of Frost Valley’s most popular hikes to High Falls and Devil’s Hole.

Sports enthusiasts will love Sports Sampler Day Camp for children entering grades 1-3 and Sports of All Sorts Day Camp for children entering grades 4-5. Campers will spend active days playing popular camp games like Dodgeball, Gaga Ball, Kickball, Capture the Flag and more. Sports encourage children to develop problem-solving strategies and improve focus and cognitive function.

Animal lovers can get hands-on experience with horses during Frost Valley’s Saddle Up Equestrian Day Camp, which is available for children entering grades 6-10. Children entering Kindergarten through eighth grade can care for a variety of animals in addition to learning all about gardening at Farm Day Camp.

Campers entering grades 4-5 who are enrolled in Maker’s Lab Day Camp will experience an exciting week of STEM-based building projects and experiments that will fuel their imaginations. In addition to its specialty day camps, Frost Valley offers Explorers Day Camp for children entering pre-K and Kindergarten, Pathfinders for children entering grades 1-5, and Tweens for children entering grades 6-7 that also offer specialties in addition to traditional camp activities. As a part of their daily schedule, campers are invited to pick a specialty to explore for one portion of their day. Prior specialties have included: British Culture, Russian Culture, Rugby, and Ninja.

Parents looking to give their child a positive, safe, and enriching summer camp experience can find a full list of programs on our Day Camp page. Since programs are filling quickly, parents are encouraged to register right away to ensure their child’s spot. Financial assistance is available. Parents can register online, call 845-985-2291 ext. 306 or email registrar@frostvalley.org.
