Day Hikes in Adventure!
It was a bright blue sky and I couldn’t have thought of a better thing to do then hit the trails and go exploring! We sent out our Adventurers to different parts of the Catskills to explore.
One group went up and over Wildcat Mountain to visit our farm. They toured our barn, meeting all of the animals that were there. Chickens, goats, rabbits, cows and so much more.
Another group hiked to the top of Table Mountain! It travels through a beautiful hemlock grove and then has an incredible view of at the top of the mountain overlooking the East Valley. It’s a perfect trail for a day hike.
The next group traveled up to Giant Ledge. Its an incredibly popular hike in the Catskills because of the awesome view. The fun rock scrambles and vista’s made for a blast of a hike.
The last group went on a search for the plane on top of Double Top. There is no trail and have to really use their map and compass skills to get to the top of the mountain and find the plane. They were able to find it, which doesn’t always happen.
It was an incredible day with some beautiful views. It was great practice for the entire village as they get ready for their mini-trips in a few days!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
