East Valley Ranch’s 2-week program saddles up!

Session one at East Valley Ranch is off to a wonderful start! The girls have been busy for the past two days with the horses and other activities away from the barn! On Monday morning the girls woke up to meet at the flag pole for some fun stretching, celebrations in which the girls say what they would like to celebrate that morning, as well as a staff member reading off a ‘Pearl of Wisdom’. After flag raising the girls went inside to enjoy a delicious breakfast!

After breakfast the girls split up into two groups, so half of the girls got to decorate their yurts and make themselves more at home while the others participated in an EPIC game of capture the flag! After that it was time for lunch as the girls got more and more excited for the evaluation rides that would come after their meal.

The evaluation rides went AMAZING. The girls had the chance to show off all of their skills so they could be matched up with a horse for the session as well as be placed in a lesson group with an instructor. They all had a chance to get a tour of the barn, learn the rules and get to meet all of our horses! Once everyone had their lesson the girls got the chance to take care of their horses as well as clean up after them.

Before we all knew it, it was time for dinner! The girls rushed into the dining hall and had ziti for dinner and loved it! Dessert was served and after that everyone had a chance to shower so that they would all be ready for evening program which was PAPER BAG SKITS! The girls had such a blast, six bags were filled with random props and the girls broke up into groups and had to create skits using each of the props within their bag. The skits were hilarious! Laughter was heard across the field as the girls asked if they could have round two, but the second time everyone would have to be silent and they would have to guess what was going on!

After the skits the girls went to bed excited to find out who their trial horses would be in the morning!

Day two was off to another great start! At breakfast the girls got to know who their instructors and trial horses are. Half of the girls came down to the barn in the morning and tacked up their own horses before starting their lessons. After that they went on one of our trails, Sherriff’s Shortcut! While that was happening the other girls got to learn about breeds and colors and do fun games such as ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.’ After lunch the two groups flip flopped, so the girls got to do everything!

At the end of the day the girls came back to the barn to turn out the horses to the field and finish cleaning up the barn! Once that was all finished they enjoyed hang out which turned into a very competitive and fun game of GaGa! At dinner there were smiles everywhere as the girls chatted with their friends about their horses and their day at the barn before going off to shower before tonight’s evening program which was a SUPER SECRET DANCE PARTY!

The music, singing and laughter took over EVR as the girls danced and dressed up for the night It was so loud and so much fun that even the girls from the four week program decided to join in! The girls went to bed sleepy from dancing the night away and all is quiet now as everyone is eager to get back to the barn and see their horses in the morning!

We <3 EVR!
