Exploring the Catskills!
With the sun out and the breeze shaking the leaves, Adventure Village spent their day exploring in the woods. Whether its searching for a piece of history in the mountain tops, a hike up and over Wildcat Mountain visiting our satellite camp or making the trip one of the most gorgeous vistas in the Catskill Mountains, our campers were able to truly experience the wilderness today. We broke off into three different groups and explored what Frost Valley had to offer. We truly love these days because there is no structure, there is a beginning and an end but what happens in between is completely up to the campers them selves. Here are some photos from their explorations. – See more at: https://frostvalley.org/a-day-in-the-woods-with-advill/#sthash.HCCUPaq5.dpuf
A short but challenging 3 mile round trip hike was totally worth this view today.
On our way to take a tour of the farm, the group took the time to reflect on this sign on the trail. The sign says ” Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future.”
A nice snack break on the their way to find a plane wreck from years ago on top of Doubletop Mountain.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
