Frost Valley YMCA, in Partnership with Blue Star Families, will Award Camp Scholarships to 10 Military Families

Frost Valley YMCA, in partnership with Blue Star Families, is awarding scholarships to 10 first time campers who have a family member that is actively serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. These scholarships were made possible through a grant Frost Valley YMCA received from The YMCA of the USA’s Resident Camp Access Grant Project, also known as the YAccess Grant.

The YAccess Grant is a nationwide camp scholarship program with the mission of offering resident camp experiences to new campers whose families might not otherwise be able to afford these opportunities. Thanks to donor support, Frost Valley YMCA was able to provide a matching dollar amount from its scholarship fund in order to make these scholarships available to children in military families. The children who receive scholarships will be eligible to attend a two-week session of overnight camp at Frost Valley.

Frost Valley YMCA has been providing high-quality camping programs for children for more than 100 years. Summer camp does more than keep kids busy; it develops their resilience, independence, and leadership in addition to giving them exciting new experiences. Camp also gives them the opportunity to form close friendships and make memories that will last a lifetime.

The partnership between Frost Valley and Blue Star families was natural and mutually beneficial because of the organizations’ overlapping goals and values.
