Adventure Village (AdVill for short!) rolled out of bed bright and early yesterday morning to hike a small mountain and watch a beautiful sunrise (check out the pictures of smugmug if you haven’t already!). The view was so spactacular that no one seemed to mind the slight drizzle on the way back down. The morning was low key as campers rested up from their early morning. After lunch the campers playing in the stream, hopped on a high element or went mountain boarding before getting involved in a bit of nature fashion and “the council.” The council is an AdVill orginial in which campers go around, in this case, with painted faces and walking sticks, to complain very loudy about all of the woes of life to people walking past. People walking by get a kick out of it, and the campers LOVE the activity! The afternoon ended with some hard skills, as campers rotated through fire building, tarp set-up and Leave No Trace principles.
After dinner, the village regrouped and participated in a challenge night. Challenge night is an activity in which the campers are divided into groups, and each group is given a challenge, such as the best cow moo or smelliest shoe. Each group decides which members is the best (or worst – depending on the challenge!) at the challenge, and then sends them up to showcase their skills to the other groups.
