Boots & Boats Found Cell Phone Reception!
Our Boots & Boats had great cell service tonight so they called in to say hi and that everything was going well. Although weather was perfect for backpacking, sounds like canoeing was a bit soggier and that the skies poured down water every moment. However – on the positive side – the clouds parted just long enough for the group to pick some fresh blueberries and to make some blueberry pancakes on shore before it poured yet again! Everyone is still meshing well, the campers are taking on a lot of leadership ability (a lot of it unprompted by the counselors!) and are very strong paddlers overall.
They will be heading on back to camp tomorrow to unpack, clean up and head on home Friday. See y’all then!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
