California has a new castle…

CASTLE INDOSTRUCTO!!! (Named by Jack) We spent part of Wednesday morning in a sand sculpture session. It took a little while for the group to sort out what we wanted to create, then after a few false starts everything was pulled together. The instructor described our castle as, “the biggest sand castle I’ve ever seen!” Our group figured we could show the California crew what FV is made of…Go Big or Go Home. A Frost Valley touch brought a bit of home with us by adding seaweed “cable” bridges.
* The castle is still standing today despite efforts by the tide and some mischievous feet.

After lunch we journeyed to a higher altitude climbing the tower. From the top you could see mountains and cars driving in Mexico! After that more time was spent in the water body boarding. Brenden was attacked by seaweed though all made it out OK. Our adventure for the evening was a night time surf session with a few folks that decided to explore the beach. The surfers practiced their moves catching waves as the sun set behind them, and the beach combers caught it all on tape as they checked out mysterious sea life that had washed up on shore.

Thursday proved to be an awesome, fun, fantastic, long, busy day at Sea World San Diego(words from the campers). We found theme park life to be interesting when Kelsey noticed at dinner that the hot chocolate was .40 cheaper than a bottle of water…what’s up with that? After riding the Journey to Atlantis Christina’s socks were a little squishy and she had some pruney feet last night. Zach then ran to the restroom in 12.5 seconds flat after standing in line for the 3rd time (some technical difficulties made getting on that ride a bit longer than expected). We spent a grand total of 12 hours at the park checking out what they had to offer then headed back to camp. The van pulled up to a locked gate at 12:20am so Kevin had to hop out and find the security guard to let Katie drive the van of sleeping children in to their tents.

He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature.
