Since our last post we have been pretty busy here at EVR! We had to cancel all horse programming on Friday as the real feel temperature was almost 100. CRAZY! However, needless to say, we had an awesome day anyway. We spent the whole morning at waterfront, keeping cool in the river. After lunch we came down to the barn to give the horses a bath – this helps to keep the horses cool and also to give them a much needed wash!! In the evening, we all sat around the campfire and had BANANA BOATS! A traditional camp favorite.
Saturday was of course BAREBACK DAY! The girls got to try their new skills on the horses with out a saddle on! It takes a lot of concentration and balance to master bareback riding and the girls did a really amazing job at it. The four week girls didn’t do bareback this session, instead they practiced for their drill team performance!
Sunday was our theme day! This session our theme was UNDER THE SEA!!!! We all got dressed up as our favorite characters from under the sea – we had jellyfish, coral, fish, sharks, spongebob, starfish, rocks, seaweed, Nemo, and even THE OCEAN. See smugmug.com for the latest pictures of the theme day. After we looked the part, we were split into four teams – the Pacific, Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Arctic Oceans and completed a treasure hunt! Of course, to end our day in style, we went to waterfront as our characters to cool off!
Today we are back on regular schedule and the temperature is finally giving us a break. The girls will be riding for a little bit longer today to make up for the time that they missed on Friday and also learning about the different horse careers that there are in the horse industry. Tonight’s evening program is FLASH MOB!
WE LOVE EVR!!!! <3
