Explore the Catskill Mountains During Hiking Weekend

Hiking is more than just an activity. It is a mindset. You are able to escape for an hour or two, surround yourself in nature and focus on the path ahead of you. As special as that sounds, hiking in the Catskill Mountains specifically, is even more unique thanks to the many miles of trails, towering vistas and flowing falls at your disposal.

That is why, every year, Frost Valley offers a Hiking Weekend for anyone who wants to explore all the Catskill Mountains have to offer. Frost Valley is home to over 30 miles of trails in a wide variety of terrain for every age and skill level. Hikers have the opportunity to enjoy local favorites including Fire Towers, Giant’s Ledge and even the highest peak in the Catskills, Slide Mountain at 4,200 feet above sea level.

Like most other Catskill peaks, Slide’s summit is gentle and rounded, taking the form of a narrow ridge that rises to a wider bump on its eastern end. Both upper branches of the Neversink River begin on the mountain’s slopes.

In addition to hiking, guests will also have the opportunity to learn the principles and ethics of “Leave No Trace”, providing guidance to enjoy our natural world in a sustainable way that avoids human-created impacts. Not only will you be able to apply these principles during your weekend, but they are also adapted so they can be applied in your own backyard.

There is so much to learn and explore in the Catskills and Frost Valley. Join us on April 13-15 for a weekend of fun, adventure and appreciation for the outdoors. For more information or to register, call 845-985-2291 x450 or email reservations@frostvalley.org.
