Where can a den or troop come to learn skills for badge requirements and leave with a greater appreciation for each other and the natural world around them? Frost Valley offers special skill-building programs for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts BSA in the breathtaking Catskill Mountains.

Many of Frost Valley’s classes teach skills that work towards earning badges through the local scouting councils. They also promote teambuilding and camaraderie.

View our Programs for Girl Scouts brochure to see the descriptions for each of our special skill building weekends. Many of Frost Valley’s classes correspond well with the Scouts BSA Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class Rank requirements.

Frost Valley can custom design programs to meet the needs and goals of your group. Each weekend, as the children work towards badges you will also have access to camp favorites like climbing, archery, arts and crafts, and seasonal favorites such as apple cider making, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and snow tubing.

There’s no need to pack tents, food, or cookware. Frost Valley’s dinning hall offers healthy, freshly prepared meals with plenty of kid-friendly and allergy-friendly options. Groups can choose from the many lodging options to accommodate their size and budget.

Main Camp is our larger, 650-bed facility that can accommodate both larger councils and individual troops. East Valley Lodge is a secluded, intimate campus that can accommodate up to 50 people, and is perfect for small groups.

Below is a list of specialty weekends at both our Main Camp and our East Valley Ranch. Frost Valley can also custom design a program on any available weekend. To make reservations for your group, call 845-985-2291 or email reservations@frostvalley.org.

About the Author

Frost Valley YMCA

Frost Valley YMCA is a 5,500-acre, year-round camp - There's something for everyone here in the Valley. From group and family retreats to sleepaway camps to horse camps to teambuilding, we've got you covered. School groups love taking a three-night field trip to explore the natural world and learn about the environment and their classmates. Family weekends are the perfect getaway for the young and the young at heart. Teambuilding retreats afford corporate, collegiate, religious, and other groups the opportunity to challenge themselves and effectively work toward common goals. In the summertime we're where kids and teens gain independence, explore the world, and make lifelong friends through various camps such as traditional sleepaway camp, farm camp, horse camp, adventure trips, Bear Grylls Survival camp, and day camp.
