Adirondack Rambler

The Ramblers have been all over the Adirondacks in the last few days. Saturday, they pulled up to the Moody Point boat launch through some choppy water without a single boat overturning. Their canoe trip was fabulous as they enjoyed a couple of great backcountry sites and some beautiful paddling country. Sunday was rafting day on the upper Hudson River. We joined forces with the guys and gals from Habitat to conquer this class III river. In addition to running the rapids, we looked for a good surf in one little wave towards the end of the day.

We had a couple of swimmers and Danielle had to say goodbye to her paddle. (You can see her pointing at it.) There was a great barbeque by the river at the end of the day and a quiet bus ride for me on the way home as everyone was tuckered out. A good night’s sleep had us up early for our first day of rock climbing. After a short hike to the cliff, we learned about knots before scaling the heights.

There is more climbing in store for us today and a last chance for a great hike tomorrow. Look for a final update on Thursday night when we are back at Frost Valley for our final time together.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
