Half-way through already?!
Time really does fly when you’re having fun! And luckily the rain held out for us all day! AdVill started the day off right, where campers could choose their own adventure of ziplining or mountain boarding. After barely getting their feet back on the ground, there was another session of rock climbing for those who hadn’t climbed yesterday.
We are half-way through our session already! You know what that means… it’s time for the mini-trip! The entire village will split into 3 groups tomorrow. One group will backpack up and over Table and Peekamoose Mountains (2 Catskills High Peaks!), one will get to go rock climbing in the Trapps (part of Mohonk Preserve), and one group will get to explore Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve by bike!
After lunch today, and welcomed rest hour, AdVill campers dove into learning the hard skills needed for the mini-trip. Campers learned what and how to pack properly for their mini-trip, and learned some of the basic skills needed to live and camp in the Catskills, such as starting a fire and pitching a tent or a tarp.
Adventure Village will be off camp tomorrow and won’t return until Thursday evening, but I’m sure they will have lots of stories and awesome pictures when they return!

He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
