Jim Thorpe: Raft & Ride

The trip has safely made it down to Jim Thorpe, had a GREAT time playing paintball and had fun rafting/biking today.

After a great day of paintball on Monday, and a soggy campsite set-up, our first group went white-water rafting yesterday.  The best part? Soaking Roger (one of the leaders!) with a big bucket of water before splashing some of the other boats in the group!

Our second group hit the rail trail to bike, and discovered biking isn’t quite as easy as it looks.  After learning about proper gear shifting, and some helpful biking techniques, everyone successfully maneuvered the trail and saw some of the scenic sites along the way.

After dinner at the campsite, the two groups combined to play some Ultimate Frisbee before participating in devotion (a quite activity designed to get the campers to open up and form stronger bonds with each other) for the evening.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
