Rocks and Ropes Climbing Experience

Hello Adventurers! This is the first of many weeks featuring one of Frost Valley YMCA’s Adventure Trips. In Adventure, we make it our mission to meet every camper where they are at, and throughout their time with us help to build them up to get closer to their fullest potential. We believe that combining the best, most caring staff with the unparalleled power of the wilderness is the most positive and purpose filled path to success we can set any camper on. Individuals who come through the Frost Valley Adventure Program do so with their heads held high, ready to face the school year with new skills, new confidence, and the ability to tackle hard problems that come their way! Adventure is where life-long friends are found, and we make it our mission to help everyone we meet feel great in meeting their goals.

This week we’re looking at the 1-week Try It Trips offered for our younger campers. Built around taking kids with limited experience into the outdoors, our Rocks and Ropes trip takes campers on a shorter than normal trip off of Frost Valley property and over to the Shawangunk Mountain Range. Located right outside of New Paltz and nestled within the Mohonk Preserve, the Shawangunks offer world class rock climbing under the guidance of Mountain Skills rock climbing staff. This is an opportunity for campers to get a taste of what Frost Valley Trips have to offer. Camping at the Sam Pryor Campground right at the base of the mountains, campers will spend 4 days challenging themselves mentally and physically as they get a chance to experience some of the best rock climbing that can be found on the east coast!

Jesse Rafter is one of the two Trips Logistics Coordinators making sure trips and mini-trips are fun, safe and full this summer. He is returning to Frost Valley for his second summer in the Trips Center, and has over 7 years of Trip Leading and Camping Experience.
