The adventures begin!

The first full day in Adventure Village could not have been better! We had a beautiful, hot, sunny Catskill summer day filled with fun. After waking up and getting ready for the day, AdVill fueled up at breakfast for an early game of capture the flag. After all that running around, some campers went to a more relaxing session of candle making, where they could really show off their creativity! Other campers took on the challenge of our climbing tower. Each camper, with the encouragement of friends and counselors, really pushed their limits and climbed higher than they ever thought they could.

We don’t want to get too tired out on the first day, so AdVill had a peaceful rest hour right after lunch to give everyone a break from the sun and a chance to relax, read, write letters, or sleep. Our campers to try out AdVill’s traditional activity of creeking!

Tonight they will get to play one of our most beloved games of French Revolution, a twist of flash-light tag played in the dark. (More AdVill pics to come soon!)

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
