Trip Time!

Adventure Village

It has been a whirlwind of activities since you have dropped your children off! Monday of tent activities, mountain boarding, climbing and some wild rides on the 70ft. Giant Swing, Tuesday got into the nitty gritty of the 3 day trips and the kids broke up into trip groups learning the basic skills, and packing food and gear.

It is hard to believe it is already Wednesday and the kids are out on the 3 day trips, but as I type this, all three groups are out and doing well. Emma, Justine, Zuzu, Malo, Doug, Jake, Paul and Mark have all strapped their backpacks on, and have ventured out and up over Slide mountain to summit the tallest mount in the Catskills. This trip is complete with shelter building, some primitive living skills and Friday’s trip to Howes Cavern for some underground exploration.

Scott, Molly, Rachel, Evan, Elissa, Emily, Collin, Graham and Sam have ventured out for the Ropes/Action Sports Adventure. They spent the morning skating, and the afternoon bouncing from the giant swing to the Leap of Faith and are currently cooking dinner 50 ft. in the air on top of our new Y tower. A moonlight zipline will cap their evening before heading over to the east valley for the 4 person team high ropes course, and stunning views, and mountain boarding on top of a grassy mountaintop we call Pete’s Pavilion. Friday for these guys will be spent at the skate park.

Jessica, Allyson, Olivia, Montana, Liam, Tim, John, and Luke were a bit sluggish as the heat was at its peak and we dropped them off on the Delaware, but they perked up as the water splashed and they began their track down the river. Tomorrow is the epic day that comes complete with a few sections of small rapids.

We should be able to get some pictures up by Friday night when they return!

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
