Good evening from East Valley Ranch! Yesterday was another wet day in the Catskills, but you wouldn’t know by our campers’ positive attitudes! Yesterday campers enjoyed activities such as low ropes course, nature hikes, outdoor living skills, and you guessed it – horseback riding. Campers are really building that bond with their assigned horses of the session after day four of riding them. Evening program was indoors due to wet weather, so we had a Trashion Show where campers used clean pieces of garbage (newspaper, rinsed bottles, etc.) to make outfits they wore down the runway.

As always, the Saturday of the session is bareback riding day! Campers got a break from the horses and mixed it up with some fresh faces for this exciting day of no saddles. Every camper got the opportunity to ride a horse bareback. We also held yurt competitions of America’s Next Top Pony where campers got to exercise their show grooming skills. After lunch campers enjoyed a leisurely rest hour followed by an all camp game of Wells Fargo (think capture the flag, tag, and color wars all mixed together).  Next up was classic Eat with Your Face Night! No utensils were used at dinner as campers chowed down on their spaghetti and meatballs. After dinner at long last we finally had our Mario Kart race! Yurt 1 proved to be the clear winners making the youngest yurt number 1.

All is quiet across camp now as campers get to sleep in tomorrow morning before brunch at 10. It’s been a very nice and refreshing first week and we are excited for the upcoming one. Stay tuned for our newest adventures up the mountain.

Be well and Build Strong.
