Good Evening from East Valley Ranch! It has been a jam packed few days here in the Valley, but in the best possible way! Campers have spent the week catching up with old friends and making all our newest additions feel right at home.  Wednesday was our low ropes day where campers sharpened their communication and trust skills with their fellow yurt mates as they spotted one another through the elements. Aside from creeking, campers enjoyed continuing to build that bond with their newly assigned horses. Wednesday’s evening program was Swap!, which involved quick thinking and quick feet.

Thursday was a beautiful but WARM day! Campers spent a good amount of time cooling off in the creek before/after their riding lessons while still rallying behind traditional activities like tie-dye, outdoor living skills, and their ground lessons. Everyone’s favorite part of Thursday? CHALLENGE NIGHT!! One of our board members came in and facilitated their classic challenge night with the campers, a fan favorite across many years. Campers and counselors competed in silly challenges together as yurts ending in ice cream sundaes for everyone.

Friday was another nice day weather wise! There were small pockets of rain but otherwise the weather did not interfere with campers’ good times. Campers enjoyed another riding and ground lesson from their instructors in addition to boating, nature hikes, and some solid time spent in the Arts & Crafts barn. Friday’s evening program was Boppers, so if your camper comes home with some flour on their clothes, those pesky boppers are to blame.

Today was the long awaited bareback Saturday where campers got to do their riding lesson, wait for it, BAREBACK! Campers worked on their posture and seat to keep them balanced and in sync with their horse’s stride. Bareback wasn’t the only dose of horses campers enjoyed today however as America’s Next Top Pony held another competition in our Bridgeview arena this morning. (I believe the winner was either Maverick or Darcy, myself). With the forecasted storms for the afternoon pushed back until dinner we finally had the opportunity to do Wacky Water Saturday for the first time this summer. Campers went between stations of slip-n-slide, drip drip drop, and live action battleship with water balloons. When the rain finally arrived campers participated in an indoor evening program of Trivia Night led and written by our very own four week campers who stepped up and exercised their responsibility and community core values.

Tomorrow is another theme day here in the valley, so stay tuned for what mysteries that involves!

Be well and Build Strong.
